Best Answer: Designing a skin is a bit complicated for Proboards. Creating a whole layout consists of making images, having the right colors, and it greatly depends on the type of codes you use. Let's see where to start. 1) You have to have a color scheme in mind. For example, maybe you want a baby blue with a navy blue as a background. These colors can be easily tested when you create the skin itself. Just go to 'Admin', 'Skin/Forum Colors', 'Create Skin', and edit to your liking. ![]() To see the skin, go to 'Profile', 'Modify Profile', and then scroll down to find, 'Select Skin'. 2) Once you have the main colors, you should decide on images. For example, do you want a border around your forum? Maybe an image as a header and footer, or a neat background that makes your forum stand out? This goes hand in hand with choosing the codes you want. This is where it kind of gets tricky. First of all though, here is the border-around-forum code, made by Smangii at Slightly Insane. ( Once you have that code, you need to make the images for the header, background, and footer of your forum. Remember, your forum has a certain width though, so I would suggest making the width smaller so you can better fit a border around your forum. Here's a code made by California at SoCal that lets you change the forum width. ( I would suggest about 700 or 800. Just play around and see what you like. ![]() Post by REP on Nov 18, 2005 at 10:47am. Does anyone know where I can get some real nice website templates [already html coded] for FREE! Lastly, you'll see that there's a message messing with your forum banner that says, 'Hey, ____, you have __ messages, ___ are new.' This can get annoying, so to remove it you can use this code made by Chris at Studio Zero. ( It's okay if it's not there. You can check your messages on the far right in the Info Center (at the bottom). Now you have the basic codes, a forum re-size to better fit your border, the code to actually allow you to have a border, and the code to remove the, 'Hey, ___' so your forum looks more neat, compact, and organized. For now, all that's left is to make the images for your border. The images of ALL your border images (header, background, and footer) should be the exact same length AND should be wider than the width of your forum. I'd suggest about 100px more than your forum width, but whatever works for you. This part can get annoying because sometimes it won't look the way you want it to. Maybe the images are too small or the boards will randomly stretch in some areas. It takes time and patience. All I can really say is keep changing and experimenting until it looks right. As for the heights of your border images, the header and footer don't matter. As for the background, you'll want to use a solid color or a simple, repeatable background. Well, for whatever your background is, it will repeat vertically. For example, I have a background border image that is a certain width (say 500px), but then the height is about 20px. That's because it will repeat down for the length of your forum until it connects with your footer image. Does that make sense? After this, just upload your images somewhere such as Tinypic, ImageShack, DeviantArt, Photobucket, among many others (although I suggest Tinypic or Photobucket). Then insert your DIRECT image links into that border-around-forum code!
